Ravishankar breathes his last while on duty .
Ravishankar came to nice road junction to attend a nature’s call when a speedy lorry ran over him.
In a tragic Hit-And-Run case a traffic police constable lost his life at nice road junction.incident took place near Devegowda junction while he was on duty under Bytarayanpura traffic police station limits on Saturday afternoon .
The deceased has been identified as Ravishankar,aged about 31 years old and a resident of Kommaghatta and a police constable attached to Byatarayanapura Traffic police station.
According to eyewitnesses, while Ravishankar was crossing the road a truck, driven in a rash and negligent manner, knocked him down.The truck was heading towards Somanahalli on NICE road, the police said. Ravishankar was rushed to a nearby hospital by Venkoba,a Home Guard but he was declared brought dead.
As soon as the incident reported to control room by the passerby who noticed the cop lying in a pool of blood he immediately called control room and senior officials as R.Hitendra,Additional Commissioner of Traffic,T P Shivakumar DCP, Traffic West,Ravi.D.Chennanevar DCP,West Zone,with ACP Traffic West, Virupakshappa,PI, Byatatayanapura Traffic Balakrishna Raju, rushed to spot and cordoned the area.
Senior officials after visiting the spot and inspecting the area rushed to Victoria hospital.
T Suneel Kumar, Bengaluru city police commissioner,told media persons that, we learnt that Bytarayanpura traffic constable Ravishankar was killed on the spot when a vehicle mowed him down near nayandahalli at Mysuru road junction.The higher officials have visited the spot.Ravishankar died while on duty and I pay my condolences to him.We will make sure Ravishankar’s family gets government’s help and services at the earliest he added.

He even said that we will install LED display boards of speed limits in nice road junctions so the driver will know in what speed he is driving so this will help in avoiding accidents he added.
Bengaluru city Police took on twitter and said, we salute &mourn our brother traffic Policeman Sh Ravi Shankar who met with a road accident today while on duty. A huge loss to the department.
DCP Traffic West,T P Shivakumar who visited the spot and after inspecting the spot he told that one of our traffic police constable metal number as BCP- 11857 Ravi Shankar of 2012 batch attached to Bytarayanpura traffic police station was mowed down by a unknown lorry and died on the spot around 12:50 to 1:00 pm and the identity of the vehicle is yet to be ascertained other than the fact that it was a truck.There were no CCTV cameras installed on the accident site.However, the police are trying to identify the vehicles with the footages from the CCTV cameras installed on the entire stretch and a case has been registered in Bytarayanpura traffic police station and further investigation is on he added.

Ravishankar joined the department in 2012 and was preparing for UPSC exams. His parents were looking for an alliance for him and wanted him to get married by the end of this year.
Though Ravishankar’s family lost their beloved they have displayed a selfless act of donating Ravishankar’s eye this indeed is a true inspiration for the society.
