Duo Notorious Dreaded Inter-State Chain Snatching offenders with Receiver arrested by Kempegowda Nagar Police,Recovered 35 Gold Chains,Worth Rs.40 Lakhs.

“Congratulations to whole team of DCP South,K.Annamalai,VV Puram ACP,Sub-Division,Valli Pasha,PI,G.Uday Ravi and his team for nabbing the notorious inter-State dreaded chain snatching offenders”.The South division police of Kempegowda Nagar police have arrested two Inter-State chain snatchers and a receiver and recovered 35 Gold chains worth of Rs 40 lakh from them. The accused has been identified as,Arun Kumar alias Arul (33) and Karthik (30) from Tamilnadu used to steal two-wheelers and committed chain snatchings offences using the stolen bike.And a receiver identified as Jayakumar,(37) year old a resident of Doddabomasandra also been arrested for receiving the stolen Gold chains.

These two notorious Tamilnadu offenders used to steal the bikes from Bengaluru and they used to then take the same bike to Tamilnadu,and change the registration plates and commit crimes at Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri and they used to keep one bike in Bengaluru to commit offences here and after committing crime they used to take shelter in Mathikere area.

Modus Operandi :

The duo would target lone women and rob their gold chains:

The accused used to target mainly lonely elderly woman.They used to ride a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle,wearing full-faced helmets and they used to first roam in the areas of south Bengaluru and do a recce and then next day they used to come sometime in single and sometime doubles first they will roam around them and after getting chance they will escape with the chain from their neck and runaway they used to target women walking on isolated roads.majority of the chain snatching victims in the city were either returning from or going to temples,park when the snatchers targeted them.and struck when the roads are less crowded.Among the victims, a large number of women were in their late 40s or 50s and if anyone tries to resist they even push them and in many incidents they have turned the crime into violent and after committing dozens of chain snatching they would return back to their hometown and they used to dispose the booty by handing over to their respective wives who would approach one Jayakumar from Doddabommasandra, who used to purchase the booty from them and get cash.

DCP South,K.Annamalai,told media persons that the South Division police of Kempegowda Nagar police have arrested Duo Inter-State Chain Snatchers under the leadership of ACP VV Puram Sub-Division,Valli Pasha,Inspector,G.Uday Ravi and his crime team has taken the case very seriously and nabbed two Tamilnadu Based offenders these both are native of Tamilnadu but they are settled in Karnataka.The accused has been identified as,Arun kumar alias Arul,Karthik and the receiver who used to receive the stolen gold from them has been identified as,Jayakumar.Our ACP has got some idea and was tipped off these are the two accused who are involved in multiple chain snatching based on the credible inputs a special team was formed and swung into action and zeroed in them and during the course of investigation the team grilled them and the accused confessed the crime and spilled the beans and based on their statement the team has recovered 1Kg 220 grams Gold ornaments as 35 stolen gold chains worth of Rs.40 lakhs reported in 35 various police stations.In our Bengaluru Police commissionerate we have registered 24 cases of chain snatching and in Tamilnadu 11 cases of chain snatching have been registered.In Tamilnadu against them and they have done more offences in Dharmapuri district in Krishnagiri town Police station limits and in Bengaluru city they have striked chains from innocent victims their main target were lonely and elderly woman and in the areas like CK Acchukattu,JP Nagar,Hanumanthanagar,KS Layout,Tilaknagar,

Puttenahalli,Jayanagar,Basavangudi,SB Pura,HSR layout,Peenya,Siddapura,konankunte police Station limits they have striked chains by snatching the chains from elderly women’s by threatening and diverting their attention by approaching them in the pretext of asking time or address they used to snatch chains from their neck and with the help of their respective wives they used to sell the booty to his friend Jayakumar.These accused have committed offences in the month of July,August and September of 2018 the team has arrested them and produced them before the court and took them into police custody and the inspector and his team has worked hard in getting the gold chains recovered from them as they have pledged the gold in various places and they have even deposited in banks to recover it it took more time almost the team has done tremendous efforts it took a month long process from which the team has detected 35 cases and recovered 35 stolen Gold chains and the property has been handed over to the rightful owners of the gold chains and to curb the chain snatching menace we have taken some precautionary measures as you all know nearly 35 check posts are being operated in South Division the reason is if we get any information about chain snatching incidents in our limits the cops can be alert once we get information about the suspect person in which bike he has committed offence what colour shirt he is wearing so as soon as the message gets flashed they can be nabbed in any of the checkposts secondly we have educated people to immediately inform police by dialing 100 so it will help us to nab the criminals as first after four to five hours they used to come to police station and report the incident but now many have been educated by our cops what to do if anyone snatches the chain or attempts to snatch the chain and to curb this menace we have conducted many crime awareness programmes we have conducted workshops to educate people what precautionary measures they can take and these criminals to whom we have caught or repeated offenders who are in this crime activities from past 2 years they have first committed series of offence in Dharmapuri in Krishnagiri town of Tamilnadu then they have committed series of offence in Karnataka as it is for their livelihood they are doing it is because of their family and culture how they have been grown up but we are very strict and after arresting we are doing all procedures as per law in the process we are punishing them and many chain snatching offenders are repeated offenders after getting out from jail they will continue their criminal activities but reformation process also been done and a case has been registered in Kempegowda Nagar police station and all the accused has been remanded to judicial custody and further

investigation is on and finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,T.Suneel Kumar,Addl CP,West,BK Singh,has appreciated,DCP,South,K.Annamalai,ACP, VV Puram Sub-Division,Valli Pasha,PI,G.Uday Ravi,PSI,Smt.Asha,and their crime staff as,Tulasidas,HM.Ramamurthy,Aravind, Kirthi Kumar,Yoganath,Harish.K,Yogesh Malli,Manja Nayak,and other staff have been appreciated for the commendable job done by them in arresting these notorious dreaded Inter-State chain snatchers who are on prowl from 2017 and has given sleepless nights to the innocent people are now cooling their heels in jail and a cash reward of Rs,25,000 has been awarded to VV Puram ACP and PI Kempegowda Nagar and his team by DCP South office and with a suitable award will be given by Bengaluru commissionerate for the exemplary work they have done he added.
