Devotees of ISKCON Dehradun led by HG Vaishnav Charan Das have organized a grand celebration for the 533rd birth anniversary of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the Yuga Avatar of Lord Krishna and the original preceptor (Guru) of ISKCON’s guru parampara called Brahma Madhva Gaudiya Sampradaya, on 21st March (Purnima) this year, at their Centre in Priyadarshini Enclave, near Balliwala Chowk, Dehradun.
Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, also lovingly called as Nimai or Gauranga (the golden avatar), appeared on the Purnima of Phalgun month according to Hindu calendar in the year 1486. ISKCON devotees and Gaudiya Vaishnavas all over the world will simultaneously hold similar grand celebrations everywhere for his 533rd appearance day on 21st March this year.
Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu inaugurated the chanting of Hare Krishna mahamantra (Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare | Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare ||) as the Yuga Dharma for the spiritual emancipation of everyone without any discrimination of religion or nationality and for spreading the glories of Sanatana Dharma through this simple process. ISKCON devotees everywhere are trying to carry forward his legacy under the guidance of ISKCON’s founder Acharya – A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada and his senior Sanyasi disciples.
The celebration will begin at 5 pm with a Kirtan of Hare Krishna Mahamantra, some bhajans dedicated to Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, followed with a lecture on the life and teachings of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu by HG Vaishnav Charan Das. The program will conclude by 9 pm with a beautiful cultural program, Abhishek of Gaura-Nitai deities, Arti, Dancing Kirtan, flower Holi and sumptuous Prasadam for all attendees
