THREE ‘S’ DEMONSTRATE GREATNESS OF SIKHISM
New Delhi, June 27 : The Vice President of India Mr. M. Venkaiah Naidu today released a commemorative Coin dedicated to the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji here today.
Addressing the occasion Mr. Naidu said that Guru Nanak Dev ji was first preacher who had advocated equality among all and taught the people that God is one. He said that his teachings are shaping the world even today and the slogan given by Prime Minister Mr. Narinder Modi ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Vishvas’ has originated from the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev ji. He said that what the first Sikh Guru taught to the world 550 years ago is guiding principle for the world specially India which followed principle of equality among all.
The Vice President said that Sikhism is a great religion and members of the community are always at the forefront to organize relief camps and Langars whenever there is any natural calamity or manmade disaster at any place of the world. He said that three ‘S’ always demonstrate the greatness of Sikhism. He said that first S is for their Supreme braveness, second S signifies their service for humanity and third S signified supreme sacrifices made by the Sikh Guru Sahiban and the community members.
He said that Guru Nanak Dev ji had raised his voice for giving respect to the women folk when society was full of superstitions and women was at the receiving end. He said that his teachings of Naam Japo, Kirat Karo and Wand Chhako (recite name of god, work hard with hands and share with all) are today more relevant for the society which is witnessing a huge change. He said that Guru Nanak Dev ji taught democratic values to the man and advocated freedom for everyone to adopt and preach religion of one’s own choice. He said that his principle of Share and Care is integral part of Indian philosophy which teaches social ethics to human beings. The Vice President said that we must make our present and future generations aware about the teachings of the Guru Nanak ji so that they should not get distracted by the western culture.
He said that he was happy to know that design of the coin released today has been chosen by a competition among the college students. He said that he was also more happy that this pious function has been organized at resident of Vice President. He also lauded the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) for its efforts to servc langar to the protestors coming to the National Capital.
Addressing the gathering Union Food Processing Minister Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur Badal said that this is a great life time opportunity for us to celebrate 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev ji. She said that Sikhism is youngest religion of the world and Guru Nanak Dev ji has broken all barriers to tell the people that no one is Hindu and no one is Muslim, there is only one God who has created them. She said that Guru Nanak Dev ji travelled by foot almost 28 thousand kilometers even to Rome, Afghanistan and other countries. She said that he did farming at Kartarpur Sahib and now it is because of NDA government led by Mr. Modi which has paved way for establishment of Kartarpur Sahib corridor. She said that on the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji we should adopt at least one teaching in our heart and do good for humanity and this will be a befitting tribute on the occasion.
Earlier Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa President the DSGMC informed the gathering that how the design of the commemorative coin has been selected and 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji is a great occasion being celebrated throughout the world.
On the occasion Mr. Harmeet Singh Kalka General Secretary DSGMC conducted the stage and also informed that how Guru Nanak Dev ji had spent 20 rupees given by his father on feeding the hungry saints from where the Langar convention started and was going on since 550 years. On the occasion Mr. Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma Member Parliament was also present besides others.
