New Delhi. CD Foundation organized a coffee morning with Mr. Tahir Qadiry, Charge de Affairs of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in India at Eros Hotel, Delhi. During this meet and greet session, CD Foundation has announced its fest entitled Afghanistan Food and Culture Festival in India held in Delhi and Chandigarh. The festival which will take place from 10th to 25th October coincides with the completion of 100 years of Afghanistan’s independence. Mr. Qadiry said that on September 23, Afghanistan is completing its hundred years of independence, therefore collaboration with the Indian partners to make the festival a grand success is a way of celebrating this grand and historic occasion. He added, the 15-days long festival will be a showcase and promotion of Afghanistan’s food, tradition, fashion, and culture.
Meanwhile, Charu Das, the founding director of CD Foundation, said that it is a privilege that her foundation has the responsibility of the organization of this festival. She added this initiative was mainly taken by CD Foundation to meet its commitments made in Kabul during a formal visit of the city by a group of Indian delegation in August 2019. According to her, her aim for planning this grand festival is dual. On the one hand, it is a way to exhibit various aspects of Afghanistan culture to Indians. On the other hand, it provides an opportunity for the participants (women entrepreneurs) to get trained in their respective fields by Indian experts and to create a network for doing future business in India.
Besides Mr. Tahir Qadiri and Miss Chru Das, the Chairman of the Asian Academy of Film and Television, Mr. Sandeep Marwah also had attended the occasion. He praised the initiative as well as expressed his views about the importance of such cultural festivals. He subsequently promised his support and collaboration for a better implementation of the program.
