For conservation of medicinal plants, the Ministry of AYUSH under its “Central Sector Scheme on Conservation, Development and Sustainable Management of Medicinal Plants” is supporting different activities viz. in-situ Conservation by way of establishing Medicinal Plants Conservation & Development Areas (MPCDAs), in-situ/ex-situ Resource Augmentation in forest areas and ex-situ Conservation by way of establishing Herbal Gardens throughout the country. To conserve the medicinal plants raw drugs, the Ministry of AYUSH under its above said Central Sector Scheme has also supported a project to establish National Raw Drug Repository (NRDR) at Regional Ayurveda Research Institute, Jhansi (CCRAS), Uttar Pradesh.
