The Government has sanctioned setting up of Super Speciality Blocks in 63 existing Government Medical Colleges/Institutions (GMCIs) in various parts of the country under different phases of PMSSY. Details are given below:

Construction of Super Speciality Blocks have been approved in following three existing GMCIs in Gujarat under PMSSY up-gradation programme :
(i) PDU Government Medical College, Rajkot;
(ii) Government Medical College, Surat; and
(iii) Government Medical College, Bhavnagar.
Deployment of manpower to run and operate the facilities created under PMSSY in existing GMCIs, is the responsibility of the State Government concerned. State Governments have already been requested to make necessary provisions thereof.
The Minister of State (Health and Family Welfare), Sh Ashwini Kumar Choubey stated this in a written reply in the Lok Sabha here today.
