Union Minister of State for Home Sh. Nityanand Rai today interacted with a group of school students from Jammu and Kashmir in New Delhi. This batch of 22 students is presently in the last leg of the Bharat Darshan tour being organized by CRPF under the aegis of the Union Home Ministry. The students shared their experiences in Chennai with the Minister while thanking CRPF for having organized the exposure visit for them. Dr. A P Maheshwari, DG CRPF and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
Earlier in the day these students, many of whom hail from poor economic background, met Dr. Maheshwari , DG CRPF at the Force Hqrs, New Delhi and narrated the exposure tour as the first in their life. “Since I belong to a small village in Jammu and Kashmir, I thought India to be the size of a village only. But through our first ever trip outside J & K to Chennai and Delhi, I realized that our country is not a village but an entire world out there.”- said a visibly elated student while sharing his experiences with Dr. Maheshwari and other senior official of the Force. All the students thanked CRPF for this sort of kind gesture and promised to excel in their study and promote love for the country.
This batch of 22 students was the 18th and last group which was taken out on Bharat Darshan exposure tour to Chennai and Delhi. The earlier batches of students in the age group of 14-18 years have already visited places like Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangaluru and New Delhi.More than 800 students, many of them belonging to BPL families of rural hinterland of Jammu and Kashmir, have been exposed to the rich socio-cultural diversity and historical legacy of the country through a series of Bharat Darshan Tour which began last December 2019.
CRPF has been deeply engaged with the people of Jammu and Kashmir through a variety of innovative outreach programmes like the Bharat Darshan Tour and MADADGAR- the toll-free helpline 14411. One of the express objectives of the Bharat Darshan tour of Kashmiri students is to expand their exposure to the country’s rich socio-cultural and religious heritage thereby making them ambassadors of peace.
