The Delhi government released a list of Corona Warriors on 19 April, according to which, if a doctor, nurse, paramedical staff, security/ sanitation staff, policeman or other private, contractual or government employee dies due to being infected by Corona Virus while on duty, then their families will be given a support amount of I crore rupees from the Delhi government, but the Municipal Corporation employees are being excluded from this list. Reacting sharply to this, Delhi BJP President Shri Manoj Tiwari said that the MCD employees who are working round the clock to ensure that people in Delhi are safe during the pamdemic, excluding them out of the list of Corona Warriors is highly condemnable and inhuman. Municipal employees are discharging their duties like warriors amidst the huge threat of infection. For the safety of the people of Delhi, they left no stone unturned to take the risk.
Shri Tiwari said that this step of Delhi Government has proved that due to BJP’s presence in the Municipal Corporation, the employees of the MCD are being excluded and deprived of the facilities provided by the Delhi Government. I urge the Chief Minister of Delhi, Shri Arvind Kejriwal not to do such petty politics during the time of crisis due to Corona pandemic. With the clarity in the list of Warriors, the MCD employees should also be included with immediate effect and it should be reissued.
LOP Shri Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, said that in this hour of Corona crisis, the Municipal Corporation employees have handled Delhi’s cleanliness and sanitization system very promptly. Certainly they too should be included in the list of warriors fighting against Corona and should be included in the compensation amount scheme of 1 crore rupees. Earlier this matter was taken up with the Chief Minister and a few days ago a video conference was also held, but no action was taken by the Delhi government. Even a letter was written to the Chief Minister of Delhi, Shri Arvind Kejriwal, regarding the stalled salary of the Municipal Corporation employees, but no appropriate steps were taken.
South Delhi Municipal Corporation Mayor Smt. Sunita Kangra and Chairman of Standing Committee Shri Bhupendra Gupta, North Delhi Municipal Corporation Mayor Shri Avtar Singh and Chairman of Standing Committee Shri Jaiprakash JP, East Delhi Municipal Corporation Mayor Smt. Anju Kamalkant and Chairman of Standing Committee Shri Sandeep Kapoor has also requested the Delhi government that with immediate effect, the Municipal Corporation employees should also be included in the list of Corona warriors and in this context ensure direct assistance to the MCD employees by directing the concerned ministry.
