The Anti-Narcotics Wing,of CCB probing drug racket case on Saturday obtained the hair samples of actors Ragini and Sanjjana who were arrested in connection with drug racket case.

As part of its ongoing probe into celebrity drug racket here, the CCB police for the first time has subjected those arrested, including Kannada film actors,to hair follicle test to check whether they had consumed narcotic substances.

Besides gathering other evidence, the police this time resorted to the hair test to strengthen the case in which actors, rave party organisers, realtors and African drug peddlers have been arrested since August after the Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB) first unearthed a racket.

The duo had refuses to provide the samples for the second time, following which the CCB officials approached the court for necessary directions.

The court court on Friday granted permission to the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police to collect hair samples of actors Ragini Dwivedi and Sanjjana Galrani, who were arrested in connection with a narcotics case.

Sandeep Patil,Joint Commissioner of Police, Crime, said,This is the first time that a hair sample test is being done to get additional evidence though we already have evidence in the form of technical data, eye witnesses, mobile phone analysis, seizures.

The investigation was on the right track,he said, adding the hair sample test was only to get additional evidence as the case would not stand only on hair evidence.

The hair follicle drug test is conducted on a person who is suspected of drug abuse to confirm it he added.

Analysis of hair samples can reveal narcotics use for up to one year. The tests are done at the Central Forensic Science Laboratory,Hyderabad.

Earlier the ccb had taken hair samples of the actors and sent it for hair follicle test, but the FSL refused citing technical reasons.
