Kolar police probing varthur prakash kidnap case managed to nab prime accused after a dramatic chase in filmy style in Tamilnadu on Saturday.
The police had caught four accused earlier,who were part of the abduction gang.The accused abducted Varthur Prakash and his driver on November Last week.
A team of police led by inspector Surya prakash used one of the accused identified as Rohith,to call his boss and trap Kaviraj and went in his car.
But as soon as Kaviraj approached Rohith signaled his danger following which Kaviraj jumped in the car and drove off.
The police chased Kaviraj and after a hot chase he was caught as Kaviraj’s car was stuck in silt near a village close to Madhurai.
In the meantime Rohith who was in the custody of the police escapes.The police brought Kaviraj to city while efforts are on to track down Rohith.
Kaviraj said to be close aide of Gangster Ravi Pujari,was from Hosur.The police are questioning him to know the motive behind the abduction and how much Varthur paid him.
Senior officer,told reporters,We have arrested Kaviraj from Tamilnadu he is the prime accused who has carried out the abduction with the help of four of his foot soldiers, who have since been arrested.Kaviraj is said to be a close aide of Pujari, who was extradited from Senegal in February.
We suspect it was a far bigger racket and more people were involved.Further investigations are underway and we are trying to identify and arrest others involved in it,he added.
