The cottonpet police have arrested two habitual offenders who had robbed a 27 year old engineer from Bantwal town while he was walking to railway station to return home in March last year.
The accused has been identified as,Nagaraju and Suresh aged around 30 and 32 years.
Senior officer,told media persons a complaint was transferred from bantwal to cottonpet police station in which the complainant Sudhakar umaraj stated that in the month of March last year while walking to Railway station to return home some unknown miscreants confronted him snatched his bag and assaulted him.
Based on a complaint by victim who stated that the miscreants confronted him in an Autorickshaw on cottonpet main road near railway station and snatched his bag.
Sudhakar resisted and even chased the duo in an autorickshaw and confronted them in an isolated place behind the railway station,he said he pleaded them to return the bag.
But the duo overpowered him and assaulted him strangled him with a rope and threatened to kill him.
The duo took away mobile,phone and cash RS. 1000 and also his debit card forcing him to share the number.
The duo threatened to set him on fire by pouring petrol on him,Sudhakar said in his complaint.
The duo soon fled after getting PIN number.The accused later withdraw RS. 20,000 using the PIN .
Exhausted Sudhakar with the help of passers by went to his relatives house in Kengeri satellite town to recover and returned to his home town in Bantwal.
After reaching his hometown,Sudhakar filed a complaint at the local police station and the case was transfered to cottonpet police.
Based on the complaint,the police inspector Chidanand Murthy and his crime staff swung into action and analysed the CCTV footages and identified the accused.
Based on the technical inputs and support the team nabbed the duo on 15th January and during investigation the accused confessed the crime and it is revealed that the duo is involved in many cases of extortion registered in various police station.
Based on his statement the team recovered valuables worth RS.3.14 lakh,a bike and Autorickshaw used to commit the crime has been recovered from his possession.
The cottonpet police have taken the duo into custody to ascertain their criminal background and further investigation is on.
Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant,has appreciated Addl CP West,Soumendhu Mukherjee,DCP West,Dr Sanjeev M Patil,ACP P Ravi,PI, Chidanand Murthy,PSI,Murthy and crime staff has been appreciated for the commendable job done by them a suitable reward will be given to the team he added.
