Continuing the investigation into the FDA question paper leak case, the CCB arrested two more persons taking the toll to 18.
The Central Crime Branch (CCB) of Bengaluru police on Wednesday arrested two more people,including a police constable,in connection with the Karnataka Public Service Commission’s First Division Assistant (FDA) recruitment question paper leak case.
The accused has been identified as,Mushtaq Kwaitinaik,a police constable from City Armed Reserve force deployed as security person at Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) and Basavaraj Kumbar,an assistant in the accounts section of the commission and roommate of prime accused Ramesh Herkal.
Senior officer told reporters,Constable Mushtaq,a native of Haveri,was deployed at KPSC office back gate while Basavaraj Kumbar,working in accounts section in KPSC.
He even said Mushtaq was a candidate to appear for examination.He was a friend of stenographer Sana Bedi.He had taken question paper from her.
Basavaraj was room-mate of Ramesh Herkal who was arrested and in police custody he had taken the question paper and was appearing for examination.
The duo were arrested based on the confession of Ramesh and Sana.According to sources,Basavaraj had joined KPSC in 2017 he was close to Sana and Ramesh.
Ramesh and Basavaraj were staying in a rented house in Vijayanagar.They wanted to pass FDA examination and get posting in Vidhana Soudha so that they can make quick and easy money.
Ramesh after receiving paper from Sana had shared it with Basavaraj.Ramesh also hit the idea of making quick money and contacted chandru and discussed the plan.The duo decided to sell the paper for RS.10 lakh to each candidate and share the money.
Mushtaq has been working in CAR for the last two years.Weekly twice he was doing security duty in KPSC’s backgate.He developed a friendship with Sana Bedi and he shared his family’s financial background with her and told that he is unable to bear the expenses.
On gaining her sympathy he asked her to help him with a question paper so that he can pass the examination and become FDA so believing him as a true friend she shared the paper as she was authorised to access the paper as she was working as Stenographer in KPSC further investigation is on he added.
Home minister Basavaraj Bommai said he had asked police to conduct an in-depth probe into the racket.Police have arrested the main people who leaked the paper.They will trace and take legal action against candidates who received it, he said.
