The Northeast Division police of Yelahanka police have arrested three persons including a Bank Manager of Bank of Baroda on charges of cheating and stealing Rs.1 Crore from the bank.
The accused has been identified as,Arun Veeramala,Basavaraj and Imtiyaz,
Senior officer, told media persons that,The cheating came to light when the Regional manager filed a complaint with the Yelahanka police after he got suspicion and suspected on the Bank Manager Arun on his behaviour.
Based on the complaint, the Yelahanka police detained Arun for questioning during interrogation he confessed the crime and revealed how he steal the money from Bank currency chest.
According to the police,Arun went to bank currency chest last week and withdrew Rs one crore cash for daily transactions.
The police team grilled the accused and he spilled the beans and revealed that the accused Arun withdrew the cash from the bank’s currency chest located on Siddaiah Road.
A few hours later, he returned to the bank,and asked his colleague Ramya Shetty to make an entry that the cash had been deposited back in the chest.He then left the office in a hurry.
Arun Colleague,Ramya shetty did not enter as it’s against the procedure and called Arun to check whether everything is ok.
On suspecion she insisted to know where the money was there but Arun cooked up a story of being robbed and also went to Chikkajala police to file a complaint.
Based on his statement our team nabbed his two associates identified as,Basavaraj and Imtiyaz.
A detailed investigation by the team it is revealed that Basavaraj a middleman lured Arun kumar to get him Rs.1 crore promising that he would double the amount and return to him in few hours.
Believing him and anticipating to become rich overnight, Arun withdraw the cash and handed over to them.After rececing the cash the duo escaped leaving Arun in lurch. With their arrest the team has recovered RS.60 lakhs from them.
He even said efforts are on to nab the third person who is on the run with the rest of cash a case has been registered in Yelahanka police station and further investigation is on.
Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant,has appreciated,Addl CP East,S Murugan, DCP Northeast CK Baba,ACP,Jayaram Sub-Division Sreenivas,PI,Ramakrishna Reddy and his crime staff who has done a exemplary work in nabbing the bank manager and his two associates who steal money from Bank currency chest to become Rich for the commendable job done by the team a suitable reward will be given to the team he added.
