The CBI has arrested 2 people,including an Enforcement Directorate employee, for demanding a bribe of Rs 2 crore in exchange for the closure of the alleged complaints in the Enforcement Directorate.
It is alleged that the Enforcement Directorate employee also allegedly raided the complainant’s house.
Based on the complaint the police arrested D Channakeshavulu and his associate Veeresh charging them under Prevention of Corruption act.
According to CBI officials,those arrested include Multi Tasking Staff employee D Chankeshavalu, who works in the Enforcement Directorate Bangalore office and a private man named Veeresh Kumar.
The CBI had registered a case against both the people and against an unknown on the basis of a complaint.The complainant told the CBI that an MTS employee working in the Enforcement Directorate had approached him at a hotel in Bengaluru.
The complainant said during this,he introduced himself as an officer of Enforcement Directorate and told that there are many complaints against the complainant.
As per the instructions,the complainant allegedly delivered an amount of Rs.6 lakh to Veeresh as instructed by Channakeshavulu.It was further alleged that the complainant received another call on next day and was instructed to hand over the remaining money to Veeresh waiting at the designated place.
The complainant complained to CBI before meeting the person and insisted for the presence of the accused official to settle the matter.
It is alleged that in return for the closure of these complaints,he demanded a bribe of two crore rupees.It is also alleged that the accused employee of the MTS Directorate also searched the house of the complainant.
According to the complaint received by the CBI, after this,the complainant agreed to give Rs 6 lakh to the said accused employee,which the accused employee asked to bring to another place.
When the complainant reached there,he found a private man there.On this,the complainant told the private man that because he has to give money,the presence of the accused officer is also necessary.
After this,the CBI laid a trap and arrested both the accused,including the accused employee of the Enforcement Directorate while receiving bribe they were arrested red handed.
The CBI wants to know from where did the sensitive employee of the Enforcement Directorate have sensitive complaints against the person?Do some other officers and employees also have collusion with him?.
Even before this,has he recovered the same money from some other people?,According to CBI sources,the involvement of other employees of the Enforcement Directorate in this case cannot be denied.At present the investigation of the case is going on.
Both the accused were produced before the special CBI court from where they have been sent on 5-day CBI remand for questioning.
