The East Division police of Govindapura police investigating drug peddling case,arrested the Sandalwood film producer Shankare Gowda on Tuesday evening.
Dr SD Sharanappa,Deputy commissioner of police (East) said that Shankare Gowda is arrested based on the evidence collected in the course of investigation.
Sharanappa even said,The Inspector of Govindapura police station,Prakash R,and his team arrested a international Drug peddler identified as John peddler recently and seized narcotics substances worth Rs.3.5 Crore.
The team grilled him during investigation he spilled the beans and revealed that the accused used to collect drugs from John peddler and others,through his office staff including Mastan chandra the former Big Boss contestant and host parties in his office based on his statement and with scientific and technical evidence he has been arrested.
The police after nabbing couple of foreign nationals (Nigerian) drug peddlers had learned that they were supplying drugs to few persons having connection with Sandalwood.
The police had initially raided on Big Boss contestant Mastan Chandra’s house.On March 8, the police had conducted raid on the office and residence of Gowda in Dollars Colony and recovered incriminating material.
After subjecting him for interrogation and corroborating the scientific evidence the police had subjected him for medical test,it was proved that he is part of the network.
The police had also summoned the Tollywood actor Tanish in the case,he was questioned for two days and was also subjected for inquiry.
The police are analyzing his statement and if required he will be summoned again for questioning.
Gowda has been charged with organising drug parties,having links with drug peddlers booked under the sections 25 (punishment for allowing premises for drug related activities),27A ( financing and harbouring ),and 29 (abetment and criminal conspiracy) of NDPS act. Further investigation in the case is continued, he added.
Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant has appreciated Addl CP East,S Murugan,DCP East,Dr SD Sharanappa,ACP Banaswadi Sub-Division,Ningappa B Sakkri,PI,Prakash R and his team for the meticulous investigation in war against drug peddlers in the city and successfully arresting international drug peddlers including a Film Producer a suitable reward will be given to the team for their excellent investigation he added.
