The Central Division police of Halasurgate police have arrested four persons including two doctors of Primary health centre in Chamarajapete for issuing fake Covid negative certificates for Rs 500 and also selling Remdesivir injections in black market 11 Vials Seized from their possession.
The accused has been identified as,Dr.Shekar,Dr.Prajwala,Sai Kishore,and Mohan Y,all working at PHC center Chamarajapete.
Senior officer told media persons,Halasurgate police sub inspector Mallikarjuna received a tip off about fake Covid certificate is being issued in Chamarajapete PHC center if anyone who is need of Covid negative certificate if they pay Rs.500 and submit their Aadhar copy without swab test they are issuing Covid certificate.
Based on credible information from the reliable inputs a special team was formed to trap the doctors and staff a special team was formed by Halasurgate police inspector Deepak who led a decoy.
Satish G,constable posing as patient approached Kishore and handed over Rs 500 and copy of the Aadhar card on Wednesday.
Kishore asked Satish to meet him near Bannappa park few hours later to collect the certificate once kishore Gurumurthy came with certificate the team who was waiting for the signal of constable surrounded him and caught red handed while handing over the certificate.
During Inquiries revealed that Kishore worked as swab collector in Chamarajapete PHC and collusion with Dr.Shekhar B,medical officer of the PHC centre was issuing the certificates to the people who wanted to travel to other states.
Based on his statement we have arrested Dr.Shekar who is issuing fake Covid negative certificate to people.
The accused have issued many certificates to people who were travelling inter state using the certificates which is mandatory .
Meanwhile another team of officials led by Assistant Sub Inspector Shivakumar,caught Mohan Y,red handed while trying to sell Remdesivir vial to the police in guise of prospective customer for a price of Rs 25,000 on SP road on Wednesday.
The accused Mohan told the police that he was sourcing the injections from Dr.Shekar who is already been arrested in connection with issuing fake Covid certificate based on his statement the team grilled Dr.Shekar who told the police that his colleague Dr.Prajwala used to give him vials working in the same PHC and with the help of Mohan Y staff they used to sell the medicine in black and earn money.
The police recovered 11 vials from the accused who later confessed that they had sold three vials before for a price of Rs 25,000 each.
All the four accused have been booked under Disaster management act,cheating and also under drugs control Act.
Both the doctors are deployed at the PHC by BBMP.While Dr.Shekhar was working in the PHC for the last 10 months,Dr.Prajwala has joined the PHC two weeks ago.
After getting a news of Doctors involved in selling Remdesivir injections vials in black by charging exorbitant price and issuing fake Covid negative certificate the BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta has dismissed the doctors for their involvement in manipulating practice and cheating the government.
The police are investigating further to ascertain how the accused were manipulating the records to steal injections from the store and further investigation is on.
Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant has appreciated Addl CP West,Soumendhu Mukherjee,DCP Central,MN Anucheth,ACP, Halasurgate Sub-Division,Smt.Nazma Farooq,PI, Deepak,PSI,Mallikarjuna,ASI,Shivakumar, Constable Sathish G and other crime staff who has successfully nabbed two PHC doctors and other two and busted the Blackmarketing sale of Remdesivir and fake Covid negative certificate racket for the exemplary work done by them a suitable reward will be given to the team he added.
