EKMAISAUKELIYE – A CAMPAIGN INITIATIVE BY NCC DIRECTORATE GUJARAT, DAMAN AND DIU, DADRA NAGAR HAVELI ‘हर काम देश के नाम’

Gujarat: EkMaiSauKeLiye is a Campaign Initiative started by the NCC Directorate Gujarat, Daman and Diu, Dadra Nagar Haveli. As the name so clearly signifies the entire idea is based on the very words, Ek Mai Sau Ke Liye. A brainchild of Major General Arvind Kapoor, Additional Director General, NCC, Gujarat, Daman and Diu, Dadra Nagar Haveli who has just returned after a two year tenure in Leh, Ladakh, the Campaign is a unique initiative, wherein the large pool of NCC Cadets in the State, have galvanized themselves, as responsible and disciplined citizens of the Nation and come forward to meet their social obligations towards the Society they live in, presently reeling under the severe effects of the Covid19 pandemic.

With Phase-3 presently underway, the Campaign commenced in the first week of May 2021 and has since then gained immense traction and popularity.

In the first Phase, which started on 03 May 2021, each NCC cadet of the Directorate connected, over their mobile phones, with a hundred relatives and friends and acquaintances and spread awareness about Covid Appropriate Behaviour and the importance of vaccination, simultaneously giving moral and emotional support with a human – to – human touch. As part of the Campaign, these NCC cadets went through a process of deep emotional connect, on which they made short videos of their mobile phone conversations and also posted some relevant experiences. This part of the Campaign received tremendous response and further motivated the cadets to carry on with the Campaig.

In the second Phase of the #EkMaiSauKeLiye Campaign, NCC cadets of the Directorate started connecting on their mobile phones with residents of Old Age Homes. The aim of this connect was to instill a feeling of deep love and regard for the elders at the Old Age Homes, as also to keep their spirits high and show them that “We Care”. The overall aim was a feel-good factor at both ends, namely, the residents of the Old Age Homes as well as the NCC cadets.

Phase Three of this Campaign started on 22 May 2021. In this phase, the cadets have been connecting with the Veterans of the Indian Armed Forces and the War Widows, respectfully, called Veer Naaris, of the Indian Armed Forces. The overall thought behind this phase to tell these fine individuals, that, even in these times, we have not forgotten the services rendered by them and their husbands respectively.

Shri Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog and Chairman, Empowered Group 3 (who himself is a ex NCC Cadet) had recently chaired a Video Conference, wherein he complemented the work being done by the NCC in Exercise Yogdan, and said that there were certain focus areas which needed to be looked into, namely intensifying the measures on online methods of extending support to the civil population, in terms of following Covid protocols, and also reach out to old people in Old Age Homes for physical and mental support.

The NCC Directorate Gujarat is very proud to say that this work was already going on in Gujarat, Daman and Diu, Dadra Nagar Haveli, when Shri Amitabh Kant mentioned the requirement of the same.
