Autorickshaw unions in the city on Thursday demanded the transport authority to revise the fares in the wake of price rise in essential commodities .
The meeting was chaired by,KM Shanthraju,DCP traffic,East Division at palace grounds with opinions and suggestions of the union representatives for documentation.
A detailed report will be submitted to,Deputy Commissioner (Bengaluru urban),who is also the chairman of the Regional Transport Authority to decide on this,Mr.Shantharaju, said.
Representatives of the Autorickshaw unions said that the RTA has not recalibrated the meters since 2013 and this is the high time, since the drivers are the most affected due to lock down and steep price hike .
While the Autorickshaws are struggling to eke out a living the government is allowing rental taxes and now bike taxis which have adverse effects on the income of the Autorickshaw drivers .
The drivers demanded that the Rs.13 to Rs.16 to be hiked per every kilometer apart from fixing Rs. 30 as minimum fare from Rs 25.
This is a decent hike the unions are demanding keeping in mind the situation of people and also due to increasing insurance and fuel prices he added.
