The Indiranagar police have arrested a 52 year old BE graduate who floated a manpower consultancy and IT firm only to dupe unemployed youth promising lucrative jobs in IT companies canada and other foreign countries.
The accused has been identified as,Raghavan Srinivas Iyyengar a BE graduate and resident of Basavanagudi.
The cheating came to light when one of the victims,who has been offered an IT job in a reputed company in Canada and cheated Rs 3 lakh,complained to Indira Nagar police a few days ago.
Senior officer told media persons,Based on the complaint by Aruna DV,the police arrested Raghavan Srinivas Iyyengar,a BE graduate and resident of Basavanagudi and freezed his bank accounts.
DCP East,Dr.SD Sharanappa,said that the accused floated VRR ventures private limited,a manpower and IT consultancy firm near Indira Nagar metro and appointed Ramakrishna D, Santosh Kumar J and Rajiv Rao HR as its directors.
Since last one year the accused is said to have cheated as many as 40 people worth several lakhs promising jobs in Microsoft,IBM and other leading IT companies in US and Canada.
The accused had created a fake ID card as an employee of Microsoft company and taken interviews of the unemployed and offered them jobs before asking to pay for the processing fee.
While many gullible people have paid him lakhs of rupees towards the processing fee,the accused created a fake email ID in the name of IT companies to send them appointment letters and also intimated them that the induction process has been delayed due to pandemic.
Using this modus Operandi the accused has cheated many people in karnataka and Andhra Pradesh,Mr. Sharanappa,said .
The accused had planned to cheat many more people using similar modus Operandi till the lock down period and wanted to escape,before he was busted.The police have detained the other directors and questioned them to ascertain their roles and investigation is underway he added.
