The CCB busted inter state red sanders smuggling racket and arrested two persons red handed while they were trying to sell the timber to their clients.The police recovered 9135 kgs of red sanders worth Rs 4.5 crore .
The arrested accused has been identified as,Anand Kumar, 51 and Anil Singhi, 47.
Commissioner of police,Kamal Pant,told media persons,our CCB police team headed by Joint CP Crime,Sandeep Patil received a credible information that two persons are waiting for their clients to deliver red Sanders as sandalwood logs to their clients near Gottigare in a Car.
As soon as the information was received a team of police led by DCP Crime-2,BS Angadi and team swung into action and rushed to Gottigare near an apartment under Hulimavu police station limits.
The team kept a close watch near the apartment and after getting confirmation the team raided a place near an apartment in Gottigere,Hulimavu and conducted a search and found the red sanders which was kept in back seat of the car.
Our team secured both the accused who were waiting for their clients to deliver a red sander log kept in the backseat of the car when the police caught them .
During investigation the accused told the police that they along with their associates sourced red sanders from their contacts in Tamilnadu,Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka .
The team grilled both the accused who spilled the beans and based on their statement the team recovered the timber logs which was stored in a godown in Hommadevanahalli on Bannerghatta road.
Based on their information,the police raided and sealed the godown along with the truck from Tamilnadu which had come to deliver,which they were planning to smuggle to foreign countries.
During raid the team recovered 9 tonnes of Red Sanders weighing 9135 Kgs worth of Rs.4.5 Crore from their possession.
A case has been registered in Hulimavu police station for further investigation.

Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant has appreciated Joint CP Crime,Sandeep Patil, DCP Crime-2,BS Angadi,ACP,OCW,Wing,HS Parameshwara,PI and staff who were part of the operation Red Sanders,and further investigation is underway and the search is on for the mastermind behind this smuggling network.A reward of Rs.80,000 has been given to the team for their stellar efforts he added.
