The West Division police of Chamarajpet police with the help of gud Samartian citizens who noticed the notorious chain snatcher trying to escape after a hot chase was nabbed and handed over to Chamarajpet police.
The accused has been identified as,Imran Khan,
Senior officer told reporters,The victim,Rathnamma,was walking to her friend’s house when the accused on a number plate less scooter confronted her.Before she realized the accused slapped her and pulled the gold chain.
Realizing that she is being robbed,Rathnamma held back her chain and raised an alarm prompting a shopkeeper situated near-by to rush to her help.
Realizing this the accused snatched part of the chain and sped away,while the shop keeper and passers by gave a hot chase and nabbed him later.
Alert residents helped the police to catch a notorious chain snatcher while he assaulted a 50-year-old woman to rob her gold chain on the busy Chamarajpet 5th main road on Thursday.
Immediately the Hoysala police and Chamarajpet police inspector,Lokhapur rushed to the spot and secured the accused upon checking his vehicle found 220 grams of Marijuana and a chopper kept in the boot space.
The accused later identified as Imran Khan was taken into custody and based on his confession the police recovered two gold chains and two bikes along with 220 grams of Marijuana worth Rs 2 lakh from him.
The two persons a good Samartian residents who helped us nab the accused were felicitated and given appreciation letters,DCP,West division,Sanjeev Patil told media persons.
Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant has appreciated Addl CP West,Soumendhu Mukherjee,DCP West,Dr Sanjeev M Patil,ACP,P Ravikumar,PI,BS Lokhapur,and his crime team and the two good Samaritan residents who helped in nabbing the notorious chain snatcher after giving a hot chase and a suitable reward will be given to the whole team for the commendable job done by them he added.
