Begur police filed an FIR against an unknown person for unveiling the statue

The Begur police have registered an FIR against a group of people for promoting enmity and intent to hurt religious sentiments after they posted objectionable comments in connection with the Shiva statue controversy in Begur lake.

Taking a serious note,environmentalist Leo saldana brought it to the notice of the high court which in turn directed the city police commissioner to Take legal action.

This is the second FIR filed in connection with the Shiva Statue controversy as earlier based on the lake development authority officials the Begur police filed an FIR against an unknown person for unveiling the statue .

Following the directions the Begur police registered an FIR on Monday against Punith Karehalli,Santosh Kartal and others and efforts are on to trace them.

In his complaint,Mr.Saldana said that the citizen action group has filed a writ petition in the high court regarding the shiva statue installation in Begur lake .

Based on the Writ Petition,the court has issued certain directions to the authorities concerned .

Miffed by this the accused has posted derogatory and objectionable posts on social media against christian community to create communal tension.
