The Bagalagunte police on Wednesday arrested a 21-year-old college student for stabbing his female friend multiple times after she broke up with him.
The incident took place in Manjunatha Nagar in Bagalagunte police station limits, on Wednesday morning.
Senior officer told media persons,the accused Uday Kumar and the victim had studied together PU in the same college but later joined different colleges for graduation.
Off late,there was a difference between the duo over a trivial row for which the girl started avoiding him.Uday apologised and tried to path up by the girl wanted to break up .
On Wednesday morning,Kumar attacked her near her house with a knife and stabbed her.The victim shouted for help following which her brother came to her rescue,but Uday also attacked him and escaped.
The police got information about the incident and the Hoysala staff patrolling near-by chased the accused and pinned him down.He tried to stab himself but the police overpowered and took away the knife from him.
It is said that Kumar had ordered a button knife online with the intent of attacking his girlfriend.The girl has sustained stab injuries in her shoulder and is under treatment at a hospital and is recovering,while her brother escaped with minor injuries.
The Bagalagunte police have booked him under attempt to murder and remanded to judicial custody.
