The South Division police of Basavanagudi police have arrested a gang of three involved in over 27 house break thefts.The police recovered 3.2 kgs of gold valuables among other articles worth Rs. 1.8 crore from them.
The accused has been identified as Bilal Mondal, 33, from Wengal,Saleem Rafiq Sheikh,43,from Mumbai and Mohammed Jalik, from Bihar.
Bengaluru City Police Commissioner, Kamal Pant,along with Addl CP West, Soumendhu Mukherjee,inspected the property recovered by Basavanagudi police and after inspecting the property displayed, Pant said,Based on a series of thefts,the south division police led by Harish Pandey,DCP,south division, formed a special team and availed the fingerprints and analyzed the cctv footages to identify the accused .
The police analysed over 500 CCTV footages to track the accused to their rented apartment for four months before they were caught.Based on their confession,the police have recovered the valuables.
The accused are habitual offenders arrested earlier by the city police and remanded to Parappana Agrahara in separate cases.
In the jail they ganged up,formed a team and after releasing out on bail,they began to operate for the past two and half years Pant said.
A detailed investigation by the team it has revealed that the accused used to come to city by flight stayed in a rented apartments in Parappana agrahara and purchase second hand bikes on commercial online sites to recce the locked houses.
After identifying the locked houses the accused break in and steal the valuables the accused would then take away the valuables to either Mumbai or Hyderabad where he would dispose and share the money.
