Notorious fraud arrested by West CEN Police Silver articles worth Rs.2 Lakhs Recovered

The West Division police of CEN police has arrested a man who was duping shopkeeper with forged UPI mode transaction messages and was escaping with valuables from their shop.

The accused has been identified as,Prashanth.

Senior officer told media persons,A case of fraud was registered in CEN police station West Division the complainant said in his complaint that as on 14th August a customer goes to silver shop and buys article more than worth Rs.1 lakh.

Based on a complaint a special team of PI,CEN, Police station, Prashanth and his team swung into action and with the help of technical inputs the team traced the accused and arrested him.

During interrogation the accused confessed the crime and revealed how he cheated the shopkeeper,the accused tells the shopkeeper that he is making payment through Phonepe and once he does the payment he says the shopkeeper that payment was done and he shows the message.

The shopkeeper who was busy with attending other customers doesn’t check the message properly and at the end of the day when he checks the messages the money was not credited.

And all got the message is that it was clearly forged and done to dupe the shopkeeper two other cases of such instances have come to the light in Ramamurthynagar and another one in west Division itself a property close to two lakhs has been seized from the person.

An appeal is make to all the shopkeepers who are accepting payments through UPI mode to confirm the cash credited to their account before they allow their customer out of the shop.

Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant, has appreciated Addl CP West Soumendhu Mukherjee DCP West Dr Sanjeev M Patil ACP Nanjundegowda PI, Prashanth and his whole team who has done a commendable job in nabbing the notorious fraud and a suitable reward will be given to the team for the exemplary work done by them he added.
