Close on the heels of a fire tragedy in an apartment in which two elderly women were burnt alive on Wednesday, in another incident three people died and four others were severely injured in a suspected blast on Thursday in Bengaluru,
An explosion was reported on Thursday afternoon, in a firecracker storage facility located in Bengaluru’s New Tharagupet area near Royan circle, in which two people died and three have been reportedly injured during the blast.
The bodies of the victims were thrown away from the godown to the roads due to the impact of the blast.As many as 10 two wheelers and a truck were damaged in the explosion.
The deceased has been identified as,Manohar R, and Aslam Pasha.
The injured are identified as,Manjunath, Ganapathi
and Anbu Selvam.
Due to the mysterious blast tension was gripped in the area for sometime as near by shopkeeper were shocked as the impact of explosion was very high.
As soon as the blast took place VV Puram police inspector,Kiran and Shivashankar and his team rushed to the spot immediately fire and emergency service was pressed into action three fire engines rushed to spot and doused the fire.
Injured were shifted to near hospital as one injured who was a aged person and got burnt was shifted to Victoria hospital and was undergoing treatment.
Senior officers as,Kamal Pant,Amar Kumar Pandey, Soumendhu Mukherjee,Harish Pandey with other officers rushed to spot.And inspected the whole area where the blast took place.
Congress MLA,BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan with ex corporator of the area rushed to spot and after inspecting the spot and collecting information about the blast from the senior officers Zameer Ahmed Khan announced Rs.2 Lakh ex-gratia to the kin of deceased and said that he will bare all expenses of injured admitted in hospital.
He even said that the hospital and temple damaged due to blast will be renovated by him and said the police have taken all steps to arrest the owner of the godown and two persons killed in blast one is resident of Andhra Pradesh and other was resident of Padarayanapura in Goripalya area he added.
FSL team with bomb disposal squad rushed to spot and started investigation.
Harish Pandey,DCP,South, told media persons in , Two people killed,three others injured in a blast at a firecracker storage facility in New Tharagupet area of Bengaluru earlier today.The cause of the blast is still unknown.
He also said the victims of the blast in Tharagupet locality have been identified as,Aslam Pasha and Manohar.
The official also clarified that the explosion took place due to some ‘unstable chemical’, which was an industrial consignment.
“The origin of the blast is being investigated. It was neither a cylinder blast nor a cracker blast or a blast caused by a short circuit.There were no pieces of compressors also,Pandey added.
Forensic experts will give their opinion on the cause of the blast,he said.
He further said there were 60 boxes of the ‘unstable explosive’ still inside the godown. The source and owner of the consignment is also being investigated.
After registering an FIR we have arrested owner of the godown identified as,Ganesh babu under explosive act and other relevant sections and investigation is on.
According to eyewitnesses,the blast was so powerful that people up to 2 km away heard the sound while the locals felt that there was an earthquake.
