The World Pharmacists Day Celebration was the latest milestone in the series of events organised by Society of Pharmaceutical Education & Research (SPER). More than 30 young pharmacy students from across India attended the SPER-World Pharmacists Day Celebration on September 26th, 2021 at Crowne Plaza, Okhla, New Delhi in accordance with the COVID guidelines. Towards lifelong learning, the event demonstrated the relevance of implementing interpersonal skills and trust in healthcare profession in order to realize the sustainable personal growth and as well as of industry at large.
Society of Pharmaceutical Education & Research (SPER) is a scientific, educational and professional non-profit organization committed to promote the highest professional and ethical standards of pharmacy. It is registered Society under the M.P. Societies Act 1973, No. 44 of 1973. SPER is a leading pharmaceutical association in the country with a member base of around 3,500 and is spread across the country with 13 state branches.
The goal of the World Pharmacists Day is to stimulate the events for the promotion of pharmacist’s role in healthcare. The theme for the event was Pharmacy: Always trusted for your health.
The appropriateness of the theme was justified by the immense service given by Pharmaceutical industry and retail pharmacy outlets through the hard-working pharmacists who are always available to provide us with the medicines and care even during the difficult times like pandemic. Be it prophylactic, diagnostic or therapeutic needs, pharmacy provided round of clock services and maintained highest order of professional ethics. The selfless service given by the pharmacists is highly appreciated and recognised by the authorities across the globe. It is believed that trust is the most essential component for human interactions and basic element for healthcare. The theme of the event was based on the substantial relationship between trust in healthcare providers and patient health outcomes.

The opening session was addressed by Dr. Upendra Nagaich, Secretary, SPER, who declared the event officially open for discussion. During his speech he unfolded the challenges and opportunities for pharma students in healthcare and emphasized on fostering discussions and strengthening connections between industry and academia. Dr. Upendra focused his discussion on skill development and urged the participants to be industry ready. The students were highly motivated by the event under the guidance of renowned guests and opened up new ways of thought processes.
