A 44 year old tractor driver who was on the run after convicted for 10 months imprisonment for a fatal accident since 2012,was caught by Byatarayanpura Traffic police on Monday.
The accused has been identified as,Anthony Raj, was arrested for running the tractor on 8 year old boy killing him on the spot in Bapujinagar in the year 2012.
The accused was arrested and came out on bail . After a long trail the traffic court convicted him to undergo imprisonment of 10 months and 15 days.But Anthony managed to escape.
Senior officer told reporters,The Byatarayanpura traffic police inspector,Ms.Roopa Hadagalli and her team who kept a close watch for over 10 years managed to elicit information from his family that he is being admitted to rehab center in Somanahalli for de-addiction.
As soon as they got to know he is admitted in Rehab center A team of under cover police as a decoy went along with constable Putta
mallappa to get him admitted for de-addiction to confirm the presence of Anthony and the under cover police got confirmation that he is admitted in the rehab center the team then arrested him.
During investigation Anthony claimed that it was his advocate who misguided him that he is acquitted and the case is closed.
Later the Byatarayanapura traffic police produced the accused before the 2nd traffic court and the court remanded to judicial custody to complete his term of sentence he added.
He even said we are tracing all the absconding person who are wanted in fatal and other accident related case today another person was traced and we collected fine from him who was absconding in a case registered in Peenya Traffic police station.
In many cases the person will be fined and after collecting the fine amount we release them on bail so far around 65 cases has been solved by our team he added.
Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant has appreciated Joint CP Traffic,Dr.BR Ravikanthe Gowda,DCP Traffic West,Kuldeep Kumar R Jain,ACP,Traffic West,AB Sudhakar,PI,Ms.Roopa Hadagalli,under cover police team and constable Puttamallapa who played a vital role in nabbing the absconding convicted accused and a suitable reward will be given to the whole team he added.
