Week-long events under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav unveiled by BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta

Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture and
achievements.

This Mahotsav is dedicated to the people of India who have not only been instrumental in bringing India thus far in its evolutionary journey but also hold within them the power and potential to enable the Prime Minister’s vision of activating India 2.0, fuelled by the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

The Smart Cities Mission (SCM) under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has planned numerous events across 100 Smart Cities between September 26 to October 03, 2021,as part of the 75 weeks of celebrations under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM).

The intent is to ensure that cities undertake a 75-hour urban transformation implementation event with the objective of re imaging public spaces in their cities.

During the 75th Independence Day celebrations Bengaluru Smart City had been organised Azadi Ki Amrit Mahotsav (Independence Amrit Mahotsav).

The union governments intiative to showcase the cultural and achievements and historic importance, said Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta,Bengaluru Smart City Ltd Executive Director Shri Rajendra Cholan and other officials were present.

After inaugurating the program,the commissioner said,Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has set up Smart City and across the country 100 Smart Cities have been selected under Azadi Ki Amrit Mahotsav and various programmes have been organised. In these lines for Bengaluru Smart City starting from today (October 1) 2021 to October 3 for three days various events and programs have been organised.

In this, today important project Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) and various departments can in one place continuous solution to problem has been facilitated.

In this, ‘Freedom for Waste’,Freedom for Traffic’ and ‘Freedom for Pollution’ – for these three initiative ICCC has been set up to see how it works, and how it will help the citizens, officials and students, public will be given information, he said.

From October 1 to October 3 2021 75 hours Place Making Marathon has been organised, Shantinagar main road Slow Street walk hurdles, instruction notices for pedestrians,traffic friendly road creation.

Not just that beautification of public places and respective public people in Akkithimmanahalli and Ayappa Garden Anganwadi development, KR market place making,Bal Bhavan place making has been organised.

Under the “Cycle for Independence” project on October 2nd 2021 morning 7 with the participation of Cyclathon program has been organised. From the east gate of Vidhana Soudha Ambedkar Vedhi-Thimmaiah circle- Rajbhavan road- Planetarium road- Miller’s Road- Chalukya circle- Race Course road- Maurya Circle- KR circle through Sheshadri Road and east gate of Vidhana Soudha east gate Cyclathon will be organised he added.
