A 46-year-old mechanic was bludgeoned to death by his father in-law over a dowry harassment in Hennur on Saturday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Mehaboob,a resident of Siddarth Layout.
The police arrested,Nazeer Ahmed, (56), a tailor by profession.
A senior police officer said that the incident took place around 7 pm and Mehaboob was busy at his bike garage when Ahmed came and picked up a quarrel with him.
In a fit of rage Ahmed took an iron rod and smashed his head.Mehboob collapsed on the spot profusely bleeding.He was rushed him to a near-by hospital where doctors declared brought dead.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Mehaboob was married to the daughter and was being harassed over to get money from her parents.
He had sent her to parents house in Geddalahalli to get money .
Recently relatives of both sides had reconciliation meeting and agreed to give some time to arrange the money,he had demanded.
However,Mahaboob continue to torture her and sent her back two days after they failed to meet the deadline .
Enraged by this Ahmed went to the garage and attacked him with iron rod we have arrested the accused and further investigation is on to ascertain the reason behind the murder he added.
