The KR Puram Traffic police have cracked the case of a hit and run and arrested the accused after 19 days with the help of a CCTV footage recovered from a Xerox shop where the accused had visited after the accident on September 21.
The accused has been identified as Sridhar,a retired HAL employee knock down unidentified pedestrian near Kasturi nagar on the night of September 21 and sped away.
The KR Puram traffic police shifted the body to KR puram hospital and registered a case hit and run before initiating investigation.
Senior officer told media persons,Inspector Mohammed MA and his team analyzed as many as 59 CCTV footage but could not get the registration number of the car,but the make of the vehicle was identified.
Further analysing the footages in and around the the police found that the Sridhar had stopped at a xerox shop to get few photo copies of some documents.
The police obtained his photographs from the CCTV footage of the Xerox shop and shared with LPG delivery boys and paper boys,shop keepers, hawkers and also with the local informers circle.
Their efforts paved and the police located the address of Sridhar and issued notice to him to appear before the police for questioning on Saturday.
Sridhar meanwhile surrendered before the court and obtained bail .
He appeared before the police and told them that it was raining heavily at the time of accident and that is the reason he could not stop.
The police have seized his vehicle charging him under death due to negligence,rash and negligence driving.He was subjected for medical examination for further investigation.
Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant, Joint CP Traffic,Dr BR Ravikanthe Gowda has appreciated DCP Traffic East,Shantharaju M,PI, Mohammed MA and other senior officials appreciated the KR puram traffic police team for good piece of investigation in detecting a blind and clueless hit and run case a suitable reward will be given to the team he added.
