A 28-year-old home alone woman was found murdered brutally with multiple stab injuries at her house in Yarab Nagar in Banashankari on Tuesday. the assailant had even tried to set fire to the body to clear the evidence .
The deceased has been identified as Afreen Khanum,a tailor by profession and she was married to Lalu Khan, who works in Timber Yard.
The couple have two children aged five and three.The children had gone to their grandparents house while Afreen was alone at the time of incident.
Senior officer, told media persons that the incident took place around afternoon and the assailants stabbed her with the scissor she was using for the tailoring purpose.
The accused cover the body with the clothes and set it on fire before locking the door from outside and escaped .
The incident came to light around 5.30pm when the neighbours noticed thick smoke billowing out from the house and called an elder brother of Khanum.
The family and neighbours broke open the back door and found the partial burnt body on the bed.
He then alerted the police who rushed to the spot and shifted the body for the postmortem and then found her husband came to the house at late night.
Initially the police suspected the role of Khan in the crime but investigations revealed that he was not aware of it till he reached the home.
We suspect that someone known to the deceased are responsible for the murder .
Preliminary investigations revealed that the couple used to fight frequently as Lalu was suspecting her fidelity.
It is alleged that extra marital affair could be the reason behind the gruesome murder.so far nothing has been stolen from the house which indicate that the murder is not for gain.
The Banashankari police inspector,Puttaswamy and his crime team swung into action and after analysing call records and other technical evidence the team arrested a 17 year old accused who was in extra marital affair with the deceased from past 1 year.
A detailed investigation will be done to ascertain reason behind the Murder he added.
