An unidentified body of a man packed in a gunny bag was found next to a Rajakaluve in D’Souza Nagar under Rajarajeshwari Nagar police station limits,on Tuesday morning.The RR Nagar police stepped up investigation to ascertain the identity of the deceased.
Later in the team identified the identity of deceased a victim and identified as,Tharun s/o Mani,20 years old resident of Bharathinagar.
Senior officer with other officers and FSL team rushed to spot and after inspecting the spot senior officer said,The murder came to light when a rag picker noticed a suspicious gunny bag dumped next to a storm water drain and found a dead body in it,around 8 am on Tuesday.
He immediately alerted the local residents and the police were informed about the incident.
“The deceased is aged between 20-25 years. He was packed in the bag by the assailants who had tied his hands and legs.
They had also gagged his mouth and nose with adhesive tape.It is suspected that the youth died due to asphyxiation but we are awaiting for the post mortem report to know the exact cause of death,” the police said.
While efforts are on to establish the identity of the deceased first, the police have not ruled out the possibility of kidnap and murder.
It is suspected that the youth was murdered elsewhere and the body was dumped near the Rajakaluve in the midnight, senior officer said, adding that information was being gathered about the missing persons as part of the probe.
The Rajarajeshwari Nagar police have registered a murder case and are further investigating he addded.
