Time for the World to Recognize Israel and Its Innovations

Thomas (Special correspondent)

One cannot comprehend global conflicts or shape their opinions from the projected media narratives alone. It requires an in-depth look into the historical, geographical, cultural and
political events of the country.

Israel-Palestine conflict is the definitive proof of how false reports influenced people and organizations not to acknowledge a nation’s contributions to global development.

Israel is home to many innovations that changed the world. From David Ricardo to Sigmund Freud and Albert Einstein to Elie Wiesel, people of Jewish descent, transformed the field of science, technology, sociology, literature and more.

Einstein’s Jewish Telegraphic Agency was an effort to support Jews struggling under poor economic conditions and anti-Semitic persecutions.

These are only a few drops in the vast ocean. Despite the accolades and inventions to their credit, it took years for Israel to be a recognized member of the international community. The change is happening.

But,it needs a push for the world to go beyond the false narratives painted by media and acknowledge the true potential of the Jewish land.

In 2020,the United Arab Emirates (UAE),Sudan, Morocco and Bahrain established ties with Israel to strengthen diplomatic and trade relations.

UAE and Israel signed the historic Abraham Accords last year, and now the countries are preparing for a joined space mission -Beresheet 2 –scheduled for 2024.

The task is set to change Israel’s picture in the global innovation spectrum.

Israel – Leading the Global Innovation Israel is home to inventions that changed the modern world. Then came other technologies that influenced the contemporary world.

From drip irrigation to rooftop solar panels to the first USB drive, Disk on Key, the country has proved its hands in science, technology and more.

The iron Domes, set up on top of buildings to defend against missile attacks, gathered global attention recently.

Bloomberg Innovation Index 2021 ranked Israel as the 7th most innovative economies in the world.

The country controlled covid-19 with mass vaccination, stringent mask protocols and green pass.

The research, development and talks with Merck to supply experimental COVID-19 pill has taken its position up the charts.

The mass vaccination strategy against Covid-19 virus is one that the United Kingdom, amongst others, applauded.

In a conversation with PM Naftali Bennett at the Conference of the Parties (COP) 26, UK PM appreciated Israel stating, “Britain needs to
learn from the booster vindication campaign in Israel.”

The country has done immensely well in skilling its workforce, educating the young and establishing R&D facilities to propel many dreams.

The credit goes to the government’s support in encouraging startups and creating a favorable business ecosystem amidst the threat from
Palestinian groups.

MNC’s have labeled Israel as highly innovative. Deloitte calls it a powerhouse of innovation. According to the organization, Israel has 2,000 startups founded in the past decade.

It has encouraged 300 multinational corporations’ R&D centers to operate within the country. Thanks to profit-driven technologies like IP telephony, ZIP compression and more.

Deloitte also talks about the investment in R&D, which is about 4.1% of its GDP. One needs to appreciate the high-quality education system and its effort to educate everyone in society.

That’s not it. Israel has an investment-friendly ecosystem and a flexible and creative economy, propelling the vision of every Israelite to be entrepreneurs, researchers, scientists and more.

It is applaudable that a country reeling under conflict and battling against terrorism has contributed much to national and global development.

Palestine – A Threat to Peace?

85% of the members of the United Nations recognizes Israel as a state, while 71.5% acknowledge Palestine. In that case, can’t three be an end to the conflict once and for all? Many activists have been asking the same, but Palestine powers are not in for a peace deal.

Remember how the organizations opposed the peace efforts by former leader Yasser Arafat? What is Palestine’s contribution to the world? Fear disrupted peace efforts and Hamas.

Many government travel sites, including that of the UK, advise travelers to be vigilant, warning them about acts of terrorism in the disputed land.

The battle for Gaza and Jerusalem has led to brutal violence by Hamas. Palestinians are in peril.

Their homes were destroyed, peace was taken away and all of this in the name of defending the land, which didn’t originally belong to them.

The extremist organizations are dehumanizing people by encouraging violence in the name of peace and by appreciating home-grown terrorism in the name of human rights.

What are the governments doing? One is encouraging terrorism, and the other is investing in growth. It’s time for the world to recognize Israel and its innovations.

By forging diplomatic ties and establishing embassies in Jerusalem.Palestinians deserve better.Israelites too.
