The Special Enquiry Squad wing of CCB busted online cricket betting rackets and arrested a bookie who was receiving bets from punters for the IPL final cricket match in Vijayanagar on Sunday.
The accused has been identified as, Hemanth P.
Senior officer told media persons,Based on a tip off,a team of police led By Special Enquiry Squad,Police inspector,Rahim and team raided a place opposite to a provision store in RPC Layout Vijayanagar and caught Hemanth P red handed and recovered cash Rs.6 lakh and a mobile phone from him.
During investigation it was found that Hemanth was receiving the bets from punters and getting match updates from an App based on which he was changing the ratio of the bets .
The accused has been taken into custody and further investigations are on to ascertain whether more people were involved in the racket he added.
Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner Kamal Pant has appreciated Joint CP Crime,Sandeep Patil,DCP Crime-1,KP Ravikumar,ACP,N Hanumantharayya,PI,Rahim and other staff who led a successful trap and arrested the bookie red handed and a suitable reward will be given to the team he added.
