Man held in Bengaluru for Malpracticing using Electronic device, during their written exams for AE PWD

The West Division police of Annapoorneshwari Nagar police have arrested a 30-year-old man on charges of indulging in malpractice in the exams held for the recruitment of Assistant Engineers for the Public Works Department (PWD),using an electronic device.

The accused has been identified as Veerannagowda Devindra Chikkegowda, a resident of Jewargi in the Kalaburagi district.

Senior officer,said Chikkegowda had appeared for the exam conducted by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) to recruit Assistant Engineers to the PWD on Tuesday.

The accused was writing the exam at St.John High School in Papareddypalya in Nagarbhavi.

Meanwhile,the invigilator heard a beep sound and caught Chikkegowda.When the invigilator checked him,it was found that the candidate had attached an electronic device to his vest and it had a switch.

“The candidate pressed the switch every 30 minutes and established contact with a person outside.

He could hear the voice from an earphone connected to the device but he could not speak through it.

Based on the information by the in-charge of the examination centre,Chikkegowda was arrested by Annapoorneshwari Nagar police and the device was seized.

The accused has been booked under the Karnataka Education Act, IT Act,and the IPC.

Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant has appreciated Addl CP West,Soumendhu Mukherjee,DCP West,Dr Sanjeev M Patil,ACP,T Kodandarama,PI, Lohith BN,Invegilator,Deepa Shetty and other officers who has acted swiftly and caught the candidate Malpracticing using transmitter and a special reward will be given to the team he added.
