The North Division police of Gangammanagudi police arrested a 32-year-old cab driver who robbed a home alone woman using a fake gun and robbed her on gun point on Wednesday afternoon.
The accused has been identified as Lingappa, Native of Vijayapura and resident of Singapura layout in the city.
Senior officer told media persons,A complaint was registered in Gangammanagudi police station in which the vicitm stated a unknown person threatened her by keeping gun point and robbed her gold chain which she was wearing and escaped.
Based on the complaint,the Gangammanagudi police Inspector,Siddegowda,and his team took up the investigations and analyzed the CCTV footage from in and around the area to identify him.
After analysing the CCTV the team identified the identity of the accused and with the help of technical inputs and based on reliable inputs the team nabbed the accused and took him to station for questioning.
During investigation the accused confessed the crime and it was found the accused is a cab driver and he revealed how he robbed the women.
on Wednesday afternoon, the accused barged into the house of Ms.Nandini while she was with her three year old child,threatened her at gunpoint and took away her gold chain worth Rs. five lakh and escaped in th car .
The accused was tracked and arrested within 16 hours of the crime and recovered the gold chain and fake gun and a car which he used to commit the offense.
Lingappa confessed to the police that he had incurred huge amount of personal loan from his friends and money lenders for his vices.Unable to repay the loan,he decided to rob a few people to repay the loan.
The accused has been booked under robbery and remanded to judicial custody.
