A 21-year-old BE student was killed and her relative sustained injuries when the motorcycle they were traveling was knocked down by a speeding truck at Garuda mall junction in Ashok Nagar on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Sanjana Priya, resident of RS Palya .
According to the senior officer,Sanjaya along with her cousin Vinay Kumar was heading to her relatives house in Jaya Nagar for breakfast. Sanjaya’s brother was following her on another bike.
When they reached the Garuda Mall junction, a speeding truck knocked them down. The duo slipped from the bike and sustained severe injuries.
Passers-by rushed the duo to a near-by hospital where she succumbed while Vinaya Kumar is recovering .
Sensing trouble the truck driver abandoned the vehicles and escaped soon after the accident.
The Ashok Nagar traffic police rushed to the spot and seized both the vehicles for further investigations.Efforts are on to track down the driver who is presently on the run, a police officer said.
