City Police commissioner Kamal Pant on Wednesday directed the city police to gear up for stricter enforcement of night and weekend curfew.
With an aim to contain the rapid spread of Omicron virus,Mr.Pant issued the directions during review meeting he held with the senior officials directing them to take all measures to ensure strict enforcement..
Apart from shutting down business and restrictions on traffic movement the police should intensify patrolling to keep an eye on possible law and order and crime incident, he said.
The entry and exit points of the city along with the major arterial and ring roads should be covered by intensifying beats,he said.
Section 144 in Bengaluru clamped till January 19th in view of rising Omicron cases.Which will be in force from 10 pm of 5-1-22,to 5 am of 19-1-22 commissioner of police Kamal Pant issues order.
Both law and order and traffic police should work in tandem to enforce night and weekend curfew, he said.
After Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai held a marathon three-hour meeting with ministers, experts of the Covid19 Technical Advisory Committee (TAC), Revenue Minister R Ashoka and Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar told media persons that the restrictions will be in force from 10 pm on January 5 (Wednesday) to 5 am on January 19.
While the weekend curfew will be from Friday 10 pm to Monday 5 am, the government also extended the night curfew, from 10 pm to 5 am across the state for two weeks.
Meanwhile public transport like BMTC and KSRTC will not be available for public it will function for essential service.
Meanwhile BMRCL MD,issues a note stating that On account of weekend curfew from Friday 10 pm to Monday 5 am in the State as per the guidelines, Namma Metro Train operational hours are revised on Saturdays and Sundays.
On these days, there will be Metro Train Services Commencing at 08:00 am from the terminal stations.
Nagasandra,Silk Institute,Kengeri and Baiyappanahalli and will operate upto 9.00 pm every day with a frequency of 20 minutes.
The last Metro Train Service will be at 9.00 pm from all the Terminal Stations.This will be effective till the curfew is in force.
On week days from Mondays to Thursdays,there are no changes and train services will be available as usual from 5 am to 11 pm from the terminals with reduced frequency during the last one hour as already notified.
However, on Fridays,Train services will be closed one hour early at 10.00 pm instead of 11.00 pm from the terminal Stations says a release.
