The Puttenahalli police have arrested a coconut vendor and his associate for murdering a 29-year-old gold loan firm executive brutally and dumped his body in a lake to rob the cash he was carrying.
The accused has been identified as, Manjunath,28,Muniraju,24 .
Senior officer told media persons,The accused lured him on the pretext of pledging their gold and availing a loan and when he came with gold to show them the accused strangulated him to death soon after he met them at their home in Sunkadakatte to deliver the cash and get the gold on January 20 .
The deceased has been identified as B Diwakar, a resident of Banashankari 2nd phase and working as executive for a gold loan company.
The accused Manjunath, 28, a native of Mesanahalli village of Kunigal taluk and Muniraju, 24, of Uttari Village living in rented house in Sunkadakate.
Manjunath is married and living with his wife and nine month old child.
Investigations revealed that Manjunath suffered heavy loss in his business and borrowed huge amount of loan.
In order to repay the loan he hatched a plan to rob cash from gold loan executive and roped in Muniraju who was also in need of money.
As per the plan the duo checked on google to get the details of home delivery firms before dialling the victim’s number on January 19.
Diwakar got the details and agreed to visit their house the next day.After killing Diwakar, the accused carried the body in his bike rode to on Magadi road and dumped the body in the lake after tying along with the bike.
When Diwakar did not return his family approached the police and filed a missing complaint.
The police checked Diwakar’s phone but it was switched off.Suspecting something amiss,the police stepped up investigations and with the help of call record details detained Manjunath.
A detailed questioning led him to confess following which the police arrested Muniraju.The police later recovered the cash from the wife of Manjunath .
Though she feinged ignorance about the murder , the police suspect her role and investigating further.
Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant has appreciated Addl CP West,Sandeep Patil,DCP,South,Harish Pandey, ACP, TM Shivakumar and his whole team who has done a exemplary and commendable job in nabbing the killers and a suitable reward will be given to whole team he added.
