Quality medicines should be made available at minimum price in government hospitals: CM Bommai
Patients should get quality medicines at minimum price in government hospitals. Distribution of medicines should be decentralised in this regard, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said.
Addressing the meeting to review the functioning of Health and Medical Education departments he said,government drug outlets should have their presence at local level and should have all the medicines.
The stock and account records should be digitised. Quality of the medicines purchased should be confirmed.
Medicines should be procured directly from the manufacturers after comparing their price in neighbouring
states, the Chief Minister instructed.
Action to improve nutrition level of mother and child within one year
The Chief Minister asked the officials to formulate an integrated nutrition programme for mother and child health.
Greater focus is needed in this regard at taluk and district level. “Get the necessary funds to improve the nutrition level and bring a significant change in this regard within an year.”
Bommai instructed the setting up of New Primary Health Centres only in districts where they are needed.He also stressed the need for setting up Dialysis centres in the PPP model at the district level.
Medical Education
“Write to the National Medical Council to make one year internship compulsory for medical students in government colleges.
Relieve the District Medical Officers from administrative work of the hospitals and appoint KAS officers for administrative work in the hospitals.
Issue the orders for opening a government medical college in Chitradurga. Create the infrastructure to start first and second year classes and expand the facilities in phases,” Bommai instructed.
Minister for Health and Medical Education, Dr K Sudhakar and senior officials of the departments were present.
