Conman booked for cheating BMTC staff

The West Division cyber crime police are on the lookout for a conman who posing as BMTC commuter befriended and gained the trust of a conductor and made away with Rs 1 lakh after promising him to get a instant loan from mobile app .

In his complaint Venkatappa said that Puttaraju used to travel regularly in his bus to gain his trust.

Recently had offered to help him to get instant loan and took his Aadhar and bank account details .

He also took Venkatappa mobile phone to fill in the details and returned few minutes later saying that the loan application is unsuccessful and returned the phone and got down in the next stop and went away.

The fraud came to light when Venkatappa received message informing that Rs.1 lakh has been sanctioned and the monthly EMI would be deducted from his bank account.

Inquiry revealed that Puttaraju used his details to get the loan sanctioned and transfered to his account while the EMI repayment gets deducted from Venkatappa’s bank account.

Based on the complaint by Venkatappa RM, resident of Kanaka Nagar, the police on Thursday registered an FIR against the accused identified as Puttaraju charging him under various sections of IT act and manhunt is on he added.
