Man posing as Lieutenant Colonel arrested In a joint operation by Military Intelligence southern Command and Bangalore City Police of vivekanagar police on Friday.
The accused has been identified as,Nataichand Janna,a resident of West Bengal.
Senior officer told reporters,A former army man who posing as Lieutenant Colonel of Indian Army and cheating unemployed youth promising jobs in Armed forces.
Initial probe revealed that the accused Nataichand Jana was involved in fraudulent recruitment and duping number of aspiring defence candidates for exchange of huge amount of money.
The accused was a deserter from Indian Army in 2009 and had forged number of identity documents to lure candidates.
He was under the scan of Military Intelligence from last one year.
The accused was caught by the alert officials CSD canteen at ASC training centre while he was moving suspiciously.
Upon frisking the officials found copy of forged Indian Army identity card,Number of photographs in army uniform and documents of aspiring candidates was recovered from the accused.
A detailed investigation by the teams has found that Jana joined the army in 1993 and after serving for 10 years he ran away from work in 2003.
A complaint has been filed with the jurisdictional Vivek Nagar police in 2007 about his escape and since then he was on the run until he appeared as fake lieutenant colonel on Friday.
The police have seized four ATM cards,two bank passbooks,three fake ID cards,two phones from him for investigations he added.
