Healthy children are the wealth of the country. Polio is a terrible disease, which causes permanent disability in children.
The disease affects children under the age of 5 years more as compared to other age groups.
There have been no reported cases of polio in India since 2011.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared India a polio-free nation in 2014.
However, considering that there are still some cases reported in neighbouring countries it is imperative that we continue with strict vigilance, surveillance and preventive actions.
Against this backdrop this year, under the guidance of Government of India the National Pulse Polio Immunisation Program has been planned from 27-02-2022 to 02-03-2022.
