A 22-year-old student was drowned at the Chunchi falls situated in the outrskirts of the city when he along with his four friends went to swim on Saturday.
The deceased identified as Ambar Gangola went on a trip with his four friends to Nandi hills on Friday night from there he reached Chunchi falls on Saturday morning.
According to the police, the incident occurred at around 7 am as Ambar soon after reaching jumped into the river and after four rounds of swimming he was exhausted and began to drown.
Noticing this his friends raised alarm and ran back to get help from villagers.But by the time they reached Ambar had disappeared .
The Sathanur police rushed to the spot along with the fire and emergency service personnel who roped in divers and carried a search operation and recovered the body within few minutes .
Ambar was studying BA at a private university in Electronic city where his father Ananth Gangola is also working.
Police suspect Ambar was under the influence of alcohol which lead to the incident,however they are awaiting post-mortem report to ascertain the exact reason for the death said a senior officer.
