Conman posing as BMRCL MD duped manager in Bengaluru made away with Rs.3 lakhs

The East division cyber crime police are on the lookout for a online fraudster who posing as BMRCL MD,duped manager and made away with amazon gift hampers worth Rs 3 lakh on Thursday.

Senior officer told reporters,Vyasaraj in his complaint said that the accused accessed his contact number and posing as Anjum Parwez, MD BMRCL messaged him asking to buy the amazon gift vouchers .

Without cross check,Vyasaraj went ahead and carried out the orders and bought gift vouchers worth Rs 3 lakh by paying Rs 2 lakh from his SBI bank account and borrowed Rs 1 lakh from his junior colleague Veerabhadra Hadimani .

The purchased gift vouchers he had mailed it to indiacovid19fundraising@gmail.com,wmail id as per the message.

The cheating came to light when he communicated it to Mr.Parwez and realized that he has been cheated .

The police are now trying to track down the accused through the email id.. We have some clues and working on it , a police officer , said .

Based on a complaint filed by Vyasaraj NR, senior manager of BMRCL Bayappanahalli Depot, the cyber crime police have registered a case against unknown person charging him under section 66C ( Identity theft) and 66D ( cheating by impersonations ) of the IT Act.
