The Kamakshipalya police on Tuesday arrested a 19-year-old habitual offender for killing a drunk man on a footpath to rob Rs 500 and a basic mobile phone from him on February 24.

The accused has been identified as,Sebastian,a habitual offender.

Senior officer with kamakshipalya police rushed to spot and after collecting information it was found that the vicitm is Satish,B,41,a daily wage labourer,was found dead on the footpath with his head smashed with a cement brick .

The kamakshipalya police registered a case of murder and investigated in detailed before arresting Sebastian .

Inquiries revealed that Sebastian,is a native of Bhadravathi was involved in several theft and robbery case.

He worked as a cleaner at a hotel in day time and move around the area in night to commit theft.

On February 24, he was wondering in Kamakshipalya and found Satish,who was sleeping on footpath after consuming alcohol.

He tried to pick the mobile phone from the victim’s pocket but he suddenly woke up and resisted the robbery.

In the melee Sabastin took a cement brick and smashed Satish’ head repeatedly,killing him on the spot .

He then took mobile phone and cash Rs 500 and escaped .

Satish was a resident of Mandya,was a daily-wage labourer at the APMC Yard in Yeshwanthpur and he had visited his sister’s house in Hanumanthanagar before he was killed said a senior officer.

The accused has been arrested and further investigation is on.
