The fire at the Sukh Sagar Hotel’s top floor,in a highly densely populated area in adjacent to a mall was reported around 2:45 pm today.
Fortunately,no casualties have been reported.As soon as the fire was visible workers ran out of the hotel with customers and a big Mishap was averted by a PSI,Ravi attached to upparpet police station was passing through Sukh Sagar hotel and he noticed fire and immediately alerted the fire control room and sounded alarm and evacuated people from the building before the fire tender reached the spot.
Senior officer with fire officers rushed to spot and pressed into action and douse the fire two fire tenders were rushed to spot to control the fire.
Senior Fire officer told media persons,the rooftop store room of a commercial building in Gandhi Nagar gutted due to accidental fire broke out on Wednesday afternoon.
The fire was first noticed by Police Sub Inspector, Ravi who was passing by and alerted the fire control room.
He sounded alarm soon and evacuated the people in the building before the fire tender reached the spot .
Two fire tenders rushed to the spot and put out the fire.
Electrical equipment and furniture stored in the room was gutted .
Panic was gripped among the people in the busy area of Gandhi Nagar as thick smoke engulfed the area for sometime .
The upparpet police and fire personnel are probing to ascertain the exact cause of the fire .
It is suspected that the fire was due to overheat of the rooftop metal sheets trigger the fire.
However the police are awaiting FSL experts report in this regard and further investigation is on.
The timely action by the pro-active presence of Police Sub-inspector Ravi attached to upparpet police has saved many lives and has made all efforts to evacuate people from the adjacent building and evacuated them safely.
Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant Addl CP West,Sandeep Patil,DCP,West,Dr Sanjeev M Patil,ACP,P Ravikumar,PI,Shivaswamy CB,and others appreciated PSI,Ravi for his timely intervention and action in alerting the fire control room a special reward will be given for his brave work he added.
