The Anti-Narcotics wing of the CCB on Thursday arrested a man from Orissa and recovered 7 kgs of Marijuana worth Rs 8 lakh from him.
The accused has been identified as, resident of Odisha.
Senior officer told media persons,Based on credible information,a team of officials raided a house in Mico Layout police station limits and caught the accused red handed while he was waiting for his customers to deliver the drugs.
The team conducted a search at his house and Seized 7kgs of Marijuana and 65,000 rupees cash during the raid.
During investigation the accused confessed the crime and revealed that he purchased the drugs from his source in Bhadrak district of Orissa and brought to the city by train concealed in packets of ready to eat snacks and chocolates pouches and even packs of cereal to avoi d undue attention and the same snack packs he would carry with him along with a small size machine to weigh and sell it to his customers.
His customers were mainly from labour class working in under construction building in and around the area he used to sell them for 500 rupees per 5grams packet.
The accused has been booked under NDPS Act and take into custody to ascertain his network and further investigation is on.
Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant has appreciated Joint CP Crime,Raman Gupta,DCP Crime-1,Dr SD Sharanappa,and his whole team of Anti-Narcotics Wing who has successfully nabbed the inter-state drug peddler and a suitable reward will be given to the team for the exemplary work done by them he added.
